Decision-making in farming can quickly lead growers in any number of different directions, but what if you could see the agronomic practices of other growers in the Red River Valley to help guide your path?

This is where Antara Agronomy of St. Jean Baptiste may be of help. It offers a peer-group learning model that uses the agronomic practices of local growers to identify trend lines for better decision-making over the crop season.

Students push for Manitoba road upgrades

Manitoba’s lack of higher-rated RTAC roads creates irritating highway detours and weight restrictions for farmers, University of Manitoba students told KAP.

“We take all their agronomy information, and then the farmers instead of relying on coffee shop talk, they can compare themselves anonymously against their neighbours,” says Brunel Sabourin, president of Antara Agronomy and a certified crop advisor with 25 years of experience. “Essentially the farmers can ask themselves, ‘how good am I, how good can I be, how do I get there.’”

Last month, Antara was awarded runner-up for its Agronomy Benchmarking program in Manitoba Ag Days’ Innovation Showcase.
