Canadian Western Agribition’s CEO and general manager plans to head back to ranching at the end of March and start a consulting career.
Jason Pollock on Tuesday announced his plans to leave the international livestock show’s front office and return to his family’s ranch at Maple Creek in southwestern Saskatchewan.
An executive search will begin “immediately” for Pollock’s replacement, Agribition president Marilyn Charlton of Weyburn, Sask. said in Tuesday’s release.
Pollock came to the organization in 2007 with an MBA from the University of Saskatchewan, a championship title in steer wrestling from the CCA Finals Rodeo and managerial experience from his previous jobs at SaskPower.

During Pollock’s four-year stint with the Regina livestock exhibition, he led the organization’s “intensive revamp” of its strategic planning model, emphasizing the show’s “evolving footprint” and new facilities added at the host fairgrounds, Evraz Place (formerly Regina Exhibition Park).
Pollock also oversaw a revitalization of the organization’s volunteer structure and model, “which will have many future benefits for the show,” Agribition noted. He also continued the show’s focus on international outreach.
The event remains billed as Canada’s premier international livestock show and marketplace, averaging about 135,000 visits per year over the past five years.
The 2011 edition of Agribition runs Nov. 21 to 26 at Evraz Place.
