the Canadian and world feed grains markets for Wednesday, Jan.

corn industry, according to a story in the Daily Yonder. The
Mexican corn industry basically disappeared in 1994 following
the introduction of the North American Free Trade Agreement, as
American corn was cheaper to import and better quality than

farmers and Mexican politicians are calling on Mexico to stop
its reliance on American corn and reinvest in helping Mexican
farmers to grow it.

Corn exports in September to November in Ukraine fell by 40
per cent to 2.2 million tonnes, according to a report by
UkrAgroConsult. The drop was due to a decline in corn acres
planted and comparatively weak foreign demand. The European
Union was the top importer of corn from Ukraine accounting for
38 per cent of exports.

As of Jan. 1 corn has become the official state grain of
Illinois, according to the Chicago Tribune. Corn had previously
held the titles of official state vegetable and official state
snack food (popcorn) but it has now become the first substance

to hold all three titles at once.

Feed barley prices in Western Canada are holding steady for
the most part, according to the latest information from the
Prairie Ag Hotwire. In Manitoba feed barley is at C$3.75 per
bushel and in Alberta at C$4.79 per bushel. However in
Saskatchewan feed barley rose five cents to C$3.85 per bushel.

Feed wheat prices as well are holding steady according to
the Prairie Ag Hotwire. In Saskatchewan feed wheat is at C$4.90
per bushel and in Alberta at C$12.05 per bushel.
