– Anti-government protests in Iraq are spreading, as Iraqis demonstrate against corruption and unemployment. Twenty people have reportedly died so far in the three days of protests, with hundreds more injured as protestors were being met with live gunfire, tear gas, and curfews.
– The United States has been given the go-ahead from the United Nations to impose tariffs on US$7.5 billion worth of imports from the European Union. The tariffs are in retaliation over subsidies provided to airplane makers Airbus and Boeing. Goods impacted by the tariffs are wide ranging, from aircraft to cheese.
– At least four police officers in Paris were killed by a knife wielding assailant in the French capital. The attacker was reportedly an employee of the police headquarters, and was shot dead at the scene. The motives of the attack are not yet known.
