WINNIPEG, Nov. 21 (CNS Canada) – The following is a glance at the news moving markets in Canada and globally.
– One of Canada’s largest banks has been added to the list of financial institutions recognized as globally important. The Royal Bank has officially made the 2017 list of global systemically important banks in the world. There are now 30 banks in total on the list.
– Apple has pulled several of its messaging services, including Skype, from China. The company says the move was made after the Chinese government complained the apps violated local lows. Facebook and Twitter are two other notable services that Chinese citizens can’t access in their country due to domestic regulations.
– Nebraska has given the green light to TransCanada’s Keystone XL Pipeline. The state’s Public Service Commission voted 3-2 to allow the pipeline to go ahead. It was the last major regulatory hurdle for the US$10 billion project.
