US SEES FEWER HOUSING STARTS IN DECEMBER
US housing starts dropped by 2.5 per cent in December from the previous month, according to the country’s commerce department.
US housing starts were at a seasonally-adjusted pace of 1.15 million units.
November’s figure was also revised upward on Wednesday, from a 1.17 million-unit pace to a 1.8 million-unit rate.
UK’S UNEMPLOYMENT HITS TEN-YEAR-LOW
The United Kingdom’s unemployment rate has fallen to a 10-year-low of 5.1 per cent, according to reports out of the country on Wednesday.
The number of unemployed people fell by 99,000 to 1.68 million in the three months to November, according to reports out of the regions.
CRUDE OIL FUTURES CRUMBLE TO 12-YEAR-LOW
Crude oil futures lost ground once again in early activity on Wednesday, as over-supply concerns continued to pressure prices.
Fears about economic slowdown in China also pressured prices on Wednesday.
