The agency running the federal/provincial AgriStability income stabilization program for farmers in Saskatchewan has put the intake process online.
Melville-based Saskatchewan Crop Insurance Corp. (SCIC) on Tuesday launched AgConnect, a web-based system through which eligible farmers can both submit and manage their AgriStability information.
AgConnect "will make the entire AgriStability application process easier and more convenient for producers," provincial Agriculture Minister Bob Bjornerud said in a release.

Farmers taking part in AgriStability in Saskatchewan can expect to receive an AgConnect activation letter by the middle of March.
Among available web browsers, AgConnect supports Microsoft’s Internet Explorer 7.0 or newer, and Mozilla Firefox 4 or newer.
The system allows participants to download and submit program forms and their supporting documentation electronically.
Participants and their contacts can also use the system to access their historical AgriStability information, such as program fees and previous benefits received.
Individual farmers (sole proprietors), corporations, co-operatives and other entities will be able to complete and submit both tax (income and expenses) and supplemental information for AgriStability through AgConnect, SCIC said.
AgConnect is expected to help SCIC to "further reduce timelines for processing applications and providing benefits to AgriStability customers," the province said.
