The Saskatchewan Watershed Authority has put up another $400,000 to fund farmer groups’ and municipalities’ water control projects.
“We’ve heard from a number of groups such as conservation and development area authorities, watershed associations and rural municipalities about the need for financial support for these projects,” said Nancy Heppner, minister responsible for the Saskatchewan Watershed Authority, in a release Thursday.
“Today we are providing an additional $400,000 to fully share the cost of establishing and maintaining these projects.”
The additional funding will cover costs up to 50 per cent for qualifying projects under the Authority’s Rural Water Control Assistance Program, its Channel Clearing Assistance Program, and its Erosion Control Assistance Program.
