Thoughts on Remembrance Day – for Nov. 6, 2008

Wars are raging in the world. Even during Bible times many wars were fought. November 11 is a day filled with special memories for me. I can still see the tanks rolling into the little town where we stayed, escaping the hunger in the big city. The Canadian soldiers came and set us free from the bondage of the enemy. Everyone was dancing in the streets. Many years later I visited one of the gravesides in Holland with the thousands of headstones. Countless soldiers died to set us free. Even to this day soldiers die in wars and it will go on as long as we live in this world.

Satan would like us to believe that what the world offers is good. However, to be freed from the enemy we need to allow God to set us free by surrendering our life to Him.

John 8:36 tells us that “If therefore the Son shall make you free, you shall be free indeed.”

Let us not forget to remember.
