Farm management platform METOS is coming to Canada, Glacier FarmMedia and Austrian company Pessl Instruments announced December 11.
The two companies announced a joint venture to create METOS Canada to market and support digital smart ag services.
“We are focused on helping farmers find solutions to the challenges of managing inputs and allocating their human resources,” said Bob Willcox, Glacier FarmMedia president in a news release. Glacier FarmMedia, headquartered in Winnipeg, is the agricultural arm of Glacier Media, and is the owner of this publication.
“METOS Canada… will provide the smart farming technology and support needed to improve farm profitability and sustainability,” Willcox added.
According to the news release, METOS Canada will offer wireless sensors and devices with applications including remote field monitoring, weather monitoring and forecasting, water management, disease modelling, insect monitoring and nutrition management.
Pessl’s integrated digital platform allows farmers to access sensor data from anywhere at any time. In addition, local METOS Canada certified partners will provide farmers and agronomists with training and support, the release said.
“Canadian producers now have more choices through innovative METOS product bundles, service, and support to improve their operational efficiency and competitiveness,” said Gottfried Pessl, founder and CEO of Pessl Instruments.
