WINNIPEG, August 12 – The following is a glance at the news moving markets globally.

US PRODUCER PRICES FALL IN JULY
US producer prices dropped in July, according to data out of the country on Friday.

The producer price index dropped 0.4 per cent, feeling pressure from lower energy and service prices.

US RETAIL SALES MOSTLY UNCHANGED IN JULY
US retail sales were flat in July, according to reports on Friday.

The previous month’s numbers were upwardly revised to 0.8 per cent.

INDIA’S GOLD IMPORTS DROP SHARPLY
India’s gold imports dropped 76 per cent from April to July when compared with the same time frame the previous year.

India is the second largest consumer of gold, following China.
