Global markets: Canadian crude production falls

WINNIPEG, August 9 – The following is a glance at the news moving markets globally.

CANADIAN CRUDE OIL PRODUCTION DROPS IN MAY
Canada produced 14.7 million cubic metres (92.8 million barrels) of crude oil and equivalent products in May, down 11.6 per cent compared with the same month in 2015, Statistics Canada said in a report on Tuesday.

CHINA’S PRODUCER PRICE INDEX FALLS IN JULY
China’s factory price index dropped in July, according to reports out of the country on Tuesday, falling to the slowest level in two years.

The producer price index dropped 1.7 per cent in July from year-ago levels.

COST OF CANADIAN APARTMENT BUILDING CONSTRUCTION UP
The composite price index for apartment building construction rose 0.6 per cent in the second quarter compared with the previous quarter. This increase was the result of higher material prices and labour costs, Statistics Canada said in a report on Tuesday.

GERMAN IMPORTS, EXPORTS UP IN JUNE
German imports and exports gained in June, data from the country shows.

Exports increased by 0.3 per cent on the month in June, and imports gained by one per cent.
