By MarketsFarm

WINNIPEG, May 29 (MarketsFarm) – The following is a glance at the news moving markets in Canada and globally.

– A nationwide strike in Argentina has halted grain exports and air travel, with many businesses, schools, and other offices closed. Protestors backed by major unions in the country are demonstrating against austerity measures implemented by President Mauricio Macri.

– In Canada, the British Columbia Maritime Employers Association has served a lockout notice to port workers effective Thursday. Cruise and grain workers would not be included in the lockout, but 20 facilities and 7,000 workers would be affected. Port workers already began limited job action on Monday, including not working overtime, after the latest round of talks failed over the weekend.

– Israel is facing the possibility of another election just one month after the last vote as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has until midnight tonight to form a governing coalition. Netanyahu’s ruling Likund party needs the support of the nationalist Yisrael Beytenu party, but they disagree over a bill on conscription of ultra-orthodox Jews.
