Thoughts On Victoria Day

In Canada the celebration of Queen Victoria’s birthday occurs every year on Monday, prior to May 25. This birthday has been celebrated since her reign (1837-1901) and was declared a holiday by the Legislature of the Province of Canada in 1845.

Queen Victoria was a very well-known queen who reigned for almost 64 years. Despite her advanced age, Victoria continued her duties to the end, and upon her death was buried beside her husband, Prince Albert, in the Royal Mausoleum. The following words are inscribed there: “Farewell best beloved, here at last I shall rest with thee, with thee in Christ I shall rise again.”

What a beautiful statement realizing that if we know our Lord and Saviour in a personal way we shall rise again in Him. 1 Thessalonians 4:16 tells us that “The Lord Himself will come down from heaven… and the dead in Christ will rise first.”

May you be encouraged with these words.
