This year we will again remember the soldiers who gave their lives so others can have peace. We also think of the veterans who fought in different wars to free the people of the oppression of the enemy. Many came home scarred for life with memories that never faded. I think of some of the memories that I still live with and I was only a child during the Second World War. I still listen to the hum of an airplane flying over and the sound of a siren rekindles my fear. Let’s remember all the children who are experiencing the effects of war today. Their happiness in life could be scarred forever.

The families of the soldiers are also affected by the war and they need our prayers. Let’s pray that God will comfort them and carry them through these troubled times. God who “heals the broken hearted and binds up their wounds” (Psalm 147:3) can give peace from the trauma and bloodshed of warfare.
