Producers wanting to get into small-scale hog production will want to mark their calendars.
On Aug. 12, Alberta Farm Animal Care (AFAC) announced the launch of a series of webinars, geared towards raising small numbers of pigs.
The series, which is a joint project between Alberta Pork, Prairie Swine Health Services and AFAC, will cover topics including “purchasing pigs, appropriate handling, everyday care and breed considerations,” according to a release, and is free to attend.
The three-part series will run from the third week of August to mid-September over Zoom. All webinars will run from 8 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., CST. The first webinar ‘Introduction to Small-Scale Pigs,’ ran on Aug. 18.
