Global markets: China to allow US beef imports

WINNIPEG, May 12 – The following is a glance at the news moving markets globally.

– The US and China have reached a deal, which will allow the US to export beef to China, reports said on Friday.

US beef had been banned in China since 2003, due to mad-cow disease concerns.

– US consumer prices were higher in April, according to reports out of the country on Friday.

American consumer prices increase by 0.2 per cent last month, recovering after March’s declines.

The growth was in-line with analyst-expectations.
