– In a call to premiers yesterday, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau suggested that if vaccinations continue at their current pace, fully vaccinated Americans and permanent residents would be allowed into Canada by mid-August. He added that fully vaccinated travelers from all other nations would also be allowed in by early September. There was no mention, however, if visitors must show proof of vaccination before entering the country as the White House has already ruled out the implementation of a “vaccine passport”.

– More than 120 people have died so far in floods across western Germany and Belgium, according to officials. Of the 120 deaths, 60 are from the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate and 43 more are from neighbouring North Rhine-Westphalia. Authorities said yesterday that more than 1,300 Germans are listed as missing, but the number could be inflated due to duplicate reports.

– Greenland’s government has made public earlier today its decision on June 24 to halt all oil exploration in its territory due to the effects of climate change. No oil has been found around Greenland, but it is believed there are massive oil reserves. Some believed that profits from these reserves could have assisted Greenland in establishing independence from Denmark.
