Weekly canola exports well below average

MarketsFarm — Weekly Canadian canola exports fell to their second-lowest level of the 2019-20 crop year-to-date during the week ended Sunday, according to the latest data from the Canadian Grain Commission.

Only 80,300 tonnes of canola were exported during the 45th week of the crop year, down 44 per cent from the previous week and well off the average weekly average in 2019-20 of about 200,000 tonnes.

However, total exports are still running well ahead on the year, at 8.596 million tonnes. That compares with 8.045 million at the same point a year ago.

Weekly domestic disappearance of 186,500 tonnes was down slightly from the previous week and compares with the year-to-date average of 205,000 tonnes. Total canola domestic disappearance of 9.068 million tonnes is nearly a million tonnes ahead of the previous year’s pace.
