Due to a “low volume of calls,” the Canadian Cattle Identification Agency has dialed back the hours of customer service for its national call centre.
As of Monday (Nov. 22), the CCIA’s call centre will operate Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. MST.
The agency had expanded its call centre’s hours in January this year to run from 6 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. MST, and again last month for the fall run to operate from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., but “due to the call volumes during the extended hours, we have adjusted our hours to respond to present demand,” CCIA general manager Brian Caney said in a release Tuesday.

U.S. livestock: Cattle futures come down from highs
Cattle futures on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange were weaker on Monday, coming down from recent highs.
The extension in October had previously been scheduled to run until Dec. 31.
The CCIA in recent months has expanded its online offerings for its Canadian Livestock Tracking System (CLTS) to include CLTS Lite, CLTS MOBO, a new resource centre and a French version of the database.
The agency also recently announced a review and study of the current model for cattle tag distribution, including an online survey.
The Canadian Cattlemen’s Association, in a separate notice, described the survey as “a valuable opportunity to make sure your voice is heard and to influence the future direction of the animal identification tag distribution process in Canada.”
The survey, which can also be accessed when producers log into their CLTS accounts, asks cattle producers about when and from whom they prefer to buy tags, and considerations they take into account such as price, dealer promotions, package size and preferred brand.
