More precipitation at the start of winter says Environment and Climate Change Canada

Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) presented its winter seasonal outlook on Dec. 4. Officials said they expect temperatures across the country to be close to or above normal for the beginning of winter. However, they pointed out Western Canada is likely to experience normal to below normal temperatures come January and February.



Ontario court strikes down portions of 'ag-gag' anti-trespass law

Some sections of Ontario’s so-called ag gag law have been struck down by the province’s Superior Court. The court ruled April 2 that certain provisions within the Security from Trespass and Protecting Food Safety Act 2020 violate the right of freedom of expression under the Charter of Rights, declaring them to have no force or effect.  







Legislation allows Quebec's UPA to rework funding formula

Quebec's legislative assembly has passed a bill allowing the province's overarching general farm organization, the Union des producteurs agricoles (UPA), to start the process toward a new funding model.
