Value-priced insect control

Makhteshim Agan of North America, Inc. (MANA), has announced the registration of Silencer insecticide for control of a wide spectrum of insects in cereal, oilseed, pulse, fruit and vegetable crops. Silencer contains the same active ingredient as Matador insecticide, and delivers the same insect control, but at value pricing, the company says.

“Silencer is an example of how MANA is bringing more competition to the Canadian marketplace,” says Dale Kushner, Canadian commercial business manager for MANA Canada. “Silencer will be available through regular retail channels at a fair price, and without any of the complex bundled pricing packages that some other manufacturers use.”

Silencer is in the pyrethroid family. It is tank mixable with Horizon or Achieve herbicides, or Tilt propiconazole fungicide. More tank-mix options will be added as part of MANA’s rigorous research and development program.

Insects on the Silencer label include grasshoppers, diamondback moth larvae, bertha army worms, lygus bugs, soybean aphids, Colorado potato beet les, European corn borers, and flea beetles, among others.
