Agriculture and Agri- Food Canada s Organic Value Chain Roundtable (OVCRT) is seeking input from organic growers on what communication tools are needed to improve the sector.
As part of a branding exercise for the sector, the task force is asking stakeholders to complete an online survey to capture the different needs and challenges facing producers. Data from the survey will help establish a marketing and communication plan for the organic sector that fits the needs of its various constituents.
Participants are asked to complete the anonymous survey before Oct. 7. It can be found at: http://app. fluidsurveys.com/surveys/shiklac/canadian-organics/langeng/.
Brazil soy plantings delayed
HAMBURG/REUTERS/ Dryness is threatening the soybean crop in Brazil, the world s second- largest producer of the oilseed, as sowings in the country face delays, Hamburg-based analystsOil Worldsaid Sept. 27.
Crop prospects for early 2012 are in jeopardy, Oil World said. The threat of declining yields has increased.
Continuing dry weather has hindered soybean sowing in Brazil, although some isolated showers could help work to speed up, forecasters said.
Brazilian farmers had planned to start soybean sowings around Sept. 15 in the major production regions of Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul and Goias,Oil Worldsaid.
But it is now considered likely that virtually nothing will be planted until the end of September, it said.
