Ag Days success depends on volunteers

Board includes 14 members who represent producers, exhibitors and MAFRD

Volunteers make the world go around with the things they do and the way they make people feel. And that includes the great things that happen each year at Manitoba Ag Days.

“No matter what the event is, big or small, there needs to be a core foundation of people to help make it successful,” says Ag Days general manager Kristen Phillips. “Manitoba Ag Days is no different. We rely on many volunteers that make the show as personable as it can be. Ag Days has noticed that each year they continue to receive more and more volunteers coming to help out with the show, with a large number of them returning from previous years. And we are just thrilled with the work they do and the value they all add to our show.”

Alongside the help from the volunteers, Phillips says Manitoba Ag Days is organized by 14 board members who represent producers, exhibitors, and Manitoba Agriculture, Food and Rural Development. The board members are committed to ensuring the show remains 100 per cent about agriculture. They strive to ensure the show features equipment to parts to agriculture services and all things in between. If it’s a part of a Manitoba farming operation, you’ll find it at Manitoba Ag Days. An event as large and as well regarded as Manitoba Ag Days needs the support of many people behind the scenes to make it as special as can be.

“Manitoba Ag Days board members are responsible for the organization of the whole show,” says Phillips. “They are appointed to cover a different aspect of the show, which includes planning and organizing of exhibits, the Ag Days program, media relations, logistics, and finance.”

Phillips says volunteers run the gamut of event tasks. Most will spend time in the Manitoba Ag Days information booth as well as help out with ticket sales for the various draws that take place throughout the show.
