Social media is all the rage these days and things are no different when it comes to agriculture and advocating agriculture in general.
That is why 2015 Manitoba Ag Days co-chair Jonothon Roskos is particularly excited about the inclusion of Greg Peterson of Peterson Farm Bros. as a key speaker at the event.
“The Peterson Farm brothers farm with their parents near Assaria, Kansas and are quite creative with social media, especially on YouTube where their videos are widely viewed both for entertainment and more importantly, as advocates for agriculture,” says Roskos. “To have Greg Peterson here will bring a perspective on promoting agriculture to the masses that many in our audience are faced with doing every day.”
Roskos says Peterson will join 40-plus other speakers over the three days in the MNP Theatre and FCC Theatre to speak to Manitoba Ag Days attendees. Some of the speakers utilize powerpoint presentations, some are more formal, some are off the cuff with slides. Roskos says all will be informative and attendees will be pleased with the topics presented.
“We have a wide range of dynamic speakers with backgrounds from private industry, governments, and academia who will bring their areas of expertise to the Ag Days crowd,” Roskos says. “Our program committee has worked long hours to flush out ideas and work towards finalizing speakers for the seminar program of Manitoba Ag Days. And the quality of our speakers certainly reinforces that hard work.”
Roskos recommends that attendees check the program and preplan their day to ensure they catch the speakers and topics that appeal to their interests.
“It can be tough to co-ordinate your time at Ag Days because it becomes such a social event as you are walking around the facility,” Roskos chuckles. “I have even missed speakers from chatting to too many people I know.”
