The Canadian Federation of Independent Business has posted the results of its Canadian Wheat Board candidates’ survey on its website.
The pro-open market CFIB asked candidates about their views on the CWB, and in particular, their views on marketing choice for western Canadian wheat and barley producers.
Elections for directors of the CWB are held in five electoral districts every two years. This fall elections are being held for directors in Districts 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10. Eligible producers must mail in their ballots no later than Nov. 28.
“We’re very pleased that 14 out of 19 candidates took the time to respond to our survey,” said Marilyn Braun-Pollon, CFIB’s vice-president of agribusiness. The CFIB says 70 per cent of its agribusiness members in Manitoba support eliminating the CWB’s single desk.
