U.S. Cash Grains-Corn bids steady to higher in light trade

Dec 31 (Reuters) - Cash basis bids for corn were steady to
higher across the U.S. Midwest on Tuesday in light holiday trade
as U.S. corn futures closed lower, dealers said.
    * Most growers have already sold their planned amounts of
grain and will wait later into the new year before booking more
sales, dealers said.
    * Sharply lower Chicago Board of Trade soybean values
combined with the holiday season kept a lid on cash soy trading,
dealers said.
    * CBOT soybean futures fell more than 1 percent on Tuesday
on end-year liquidation and beneficial rains in South American

crop areas, especially Argentina, and settled down 7.5 percent for the year, traders said. * Light grain and soy deliveries trickled in early on Tuesday to some locations as farmers met their commitments for 2013, dealers said. * A closely followed processor in Decatur, Illinois improved its corn bid by 8 cents per bushel. * A corn bid improved by 1 cent per bushel at an Illinois river terminal. * A soybean bid rose by 3 cents per bushel at an elevator in Council Bluffs, Iowa. * A soybean bid fell by 5 cents per bushel at Sioux City, Iowa processor. * Chicago Board of Trade corn futures closed lower on Tuesday on the burdensome stockpile of global feedgrains and on rainfall in Argentina that boosted crop prospects in the key global exporter, traders said.
