Manitoba feed industry entrepreneur Ted Bailey was presented with the Distinguished Service Award at the University of Manitoba Spring 2011 Convocation earlier this month. The award is presented by the Board of Governors for exceptional contributions to Manitoba in areas which are of major interest to the University of Manitoba, and/or which are directly associated with the university.
Bailey, who graduated from the faculty of agriculture in 1966, became a partner with Bruce Campbell in Riverbend Feed Mill in Rosenort in 1974. The business became the largest feed and service provider to the province’s egg industry.
Bailey was also active in a volunteer campaign to raise $8.3 million towards the construction and endowment funds for the National Centre for Livestock and the Environment, and the Bruce D. Campbell Farm and Food Discovery Centre.
