GAINSBOROUGH COMBINED

The club’s first meeting was held Oct. 13 at Gainsborough Hall at 7 p. m. We had fun taking care of business and even goofing around a little too! At this meeting we voted in our executives: president Riley Trimble, vice-president Shania Jack, secretary Rachael Verwey, treasurer Brailyn Smith and reporter Lindsay Verwey. On Oct. 24 there was a Halloween dance at the Gainsborough Hall. We had a “fear factor” competition, a creepy haunted house and an awesome DJ. Hope to see you at our next meeting on Nov. 10 at 7 p. m.!

– Lindsay Verwey

RAPID CITY BEEF

It’s been awhile since I’ve written a report so bear with me. A new 4-H year is approaching fast and this is the time of year to be watching for some steer prospects. Take note: fall sales are underway and there are a lot of good calves available. Our reorganizational meeting will be held Nov. 10 in the Rapid City Library basement at 7:30 p. m. It will be nice to see returning members after a nice summer break, and great to see some new faces at our meeting. If you are interested in joining the beef club we will be glad to show you the ropes. 4-H is an excellent way to acquire skills raising quality beef. I hope you don’t pass up the opportunity to meet new friends and get involved with your community. – Stephen Hinsburg

OAK LAKE BEEF

The club’s monthly meeting was held on Oct. 5 at 7 p. m. at the Oak Lake Curling Club.

The club’s windup was on Sept. 19 for the families who didn’t get to come last time, with laser tag from 5 to 7 p. m. and a potluck supper at Travis and Rilla Hunter’s. Everyone enjoyed it and had fun.

The club is making a donation to the curling club for the use of its facilities for our monthly meeting. The record books were handed out to members and they are to be turned in next meeting to be judged for awards at the appreciation brunch. Elections will also take place at the next meeting on Nov. 1. There is an appreciation brunch on Nov. 15 at the Oak Lake Hall.

Anyone interested in joining our club is more than welcome to come to the next meeting or contact Albert Rimke or Nadine Thiry. – Natalie Bailey
