– US jobless claims in the week ending November 5 fell 11,000 to a seasonally adjusted 254,000, the country’s labour department said on Thursday.
The country’s strong labour force continues to support ideas that the US Federal Reserve will raise interest rates in December.
– Canada’s New Housing Price Index (NHPI) rose 0.2 per cent in September compared with the previous month. Prices rose in 11 census metropolitan areas (CMAs), with the indexes from the combined region of Toronto and Oshawa and from Vancouver contributing the most to the monthly increase, Statistics Canada said in a report on Thursday.
Housing prices are often seen as indicators of buyer-interest and housing market optimism.
