– International markets will be following news out of Singapore closely this week, as U.S. President Donald Trump is there to meet with North Korean President Kim Jong Un to discuss denuclearization and other topics.
– The G7 summit held in Quebec over the weekend ended with more questions than answers as a tentative agreement was quickly torpedoed by a series of antagonistic tweets from Trump after he left the meetings early. The possibility of a trade war between Canada and the U.S. weighed on the loonie to start the week.
– Brazil’s Vale is moving ahead with an underground nickel mine in Voisey’s Bay, Newfoundland and Labrador. The mine expansion is expected to begin later this summer, with ore production starting in 2021.
