WINNIPEG, Sept. 26 (MarketsFarm News) – The following is a glance at the news moving markets in Canada and globally.

– A report from a whistleblower has alleged that United States President Donald Trump sought Ukraine’s help with interfering in the 2020 election. Acting Director of National Intelligence, Joseph Maguire, will testify before the House of Representatives Intelligence Committee. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced a formal impeachment inquiry against the President on Tuesday.

– The U.S. economy grew by two per cent in the second quarter of 2019, according to recent data. That’s significantly below the three per cent growth rate of the previous year. Analysts believe growth will continue to slow due to global economic sluggishness, exacerbated by prolonged trade tensions.

– Protests in Hong Kong have continued despite Chief Executive Carrie Lam beginning “open dialogue” sessions with the public in an attempt to end the three-month long protests. People are protesting an extradition bill between Hong Kong and mainland China. Lam met with 150 people who addressed issues including electoral freedom, public opinion, and an independent inquiry into allegations of police brutality during the protests, according to Reuters.
