WINNIPEG, Oct. 5 (CNS Canada) – The following is a glance at the news moving markets in Canada and globally.

– The Canadian economy added 10,000 jobs in September, according to Statistics Canada data. The increase was below expectations and saw the country’s unemployment rate hold steady at 6.2 per cent, as the number of people looking for work declined.

– In US jobs data, employment fell by 33,000 in September, with Hurricanes Harvey and Maria behind the first monthly decline in seven years. The US unemployment rate declined to 4.2 per cent, from 4.4 per cent.

– Speaking with military leaders Thursday night, US President Donald Trump indicated that the meeting might be the “calm before the storm,” but would not elaborate on the meaning of that cryptic statement only saying “you’ll find out” when asked by reporters.
