Global Markets: NAFTA talks head to Round Two

Aug. 31 (CNS Canada) – The following is a glance at the news moving markets in Canada and globally.

– The second round of negotiations to work out changes to the North American Free Trade Agreement is scheduled to go ahead this weekend amid threats from United States President Donald Trump to tear up the deal.

– What’s left of Hurricane-Tropical Storm Harvey has moved into Louisiana, after leaving widespread damage and killing at least 35 people in Houston, Texas.

– A new coalition of small businesses has formed to try and stop Ottawa’s tax reform plans, which it says unfairly targets small business. The Coalition for Small Business Tax Fairness plans to ask Finance Minister Bill Morneau to abandon reforms the Liberal government announced in July.
