By Commodity News Service Canada

Sept. 26 (CNS Canada) – The following is a glance at the news moving markets in Canada and globally.

– Puerto Rico is struggling with slow assistance after Hurricane Maria brought floods, destroyed buildings communications systems and infrastructure, and damaged a dam that puts many residents at risk. Governor Ricardo Rossello is calling it a humanitarian crisis and is asking U.S. Congress to send immediate aid.

– Statements from the United States saying it is not at war with North Korea have apparently done little to ease the fears in North Korea, as the Asian nation is building up its East Coast defences today, according to a South Korean official who was briefed by the South Korean intelligence agency.

– In the U.S. Senate, Republicans are expected to decide whether to hold a vote on ending the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare, even though there is little chance the vote would pass, with three Republican senators vowing to vote against it leaving the bill short of a majority.
