Producer deliveries spike in June

MarketsFarm — Grain deliveries in Canada increased 48.5 per cent from May to June, according to Statistics Canada in a report released today.

The report, Producer Deliveries of Major Grains, showed more than 5.16 million tonnes of all grains were delivered by producers in June, compared to the approximately 3.54 million tonnes in May. It’s the largest May-to-June increase since 2017, when deliveries rose by almost 102 per cent.

Total wheat deliveries in June came to 2.78 million tonnes, of which 438,902 tonnes were in durum.

Producers in June hauled in 192,208 tonnes of oats and 309,301 tonnes of barley.

Rye and flax were the only crops to see a decrease in the report. In June, 5,800 tonnes of rye were delivered, compared to 13,005 tonnes in May. Flax dropped from 40,302 tonnes in May to 30,610 tonnes last month.

Canola deliveries rose from about 1.31 million tonnes in May to more than 1.8 million tonnes in June.
