Precipitation Map

This week's map shows the snow cover across the Prairies as of Jan. 29. This map is created by Environment Canada, but I do a fair bit of work cleaning up the map to make it easier to read. Because of this, the map should only be taken as giving approximate amounts of snow, because snowfall can vary greatly over short distances. If not for the heavy snow cover over northern regions, this map reminds me more of what we would typically see in late November. It's easy to see from the snow cover where the warm air has been so far this winter, along with how the main storm track has been from the far northwest to the southeast. -- Daniel Bezte
